According to the classification followed by WHO, Diabetes can be of three main types. They are type2, type 1 and gestational diabetes. The last variant is mostly seen in women who have conceived. All of the variants are ultimately caused by the inability of the beta cells in the pancreas to generate adequate insulin. While Gestational diabetes usually ends with the birth of the child, the other two types persist and require adequate treatment. Insulin’s availability has made the disease largely curable.
